Muslim Terrorist Who Attacked Christians In Church With A Sword In Indonesia Tried To Go To Syria

Several days ago, a Muslim man attacked Christians during mass with a sword in Indonesia. He attacked the priest before attacking the building and was taken down and arrested by police:

In another development to the story, this same man had tried to go to Syria according to a report:

A Muslim extremist who attacked a Catholic church in Indonesia on Sunday (Feb. 11) had tried to go to Syria, according to reports.

The 23-year-old identified as Suliyono of Bayuwangi in East Java wounded a priest and three others during Mass at St. Lidwina Catholic Church in Central Java’s city of Yogyakarta. National Police Chief Tito Karnavian told Agence France-Presse that Suliyono’s application for a passport to go to Syria had failed due to ID problems, and that police were still trying to determine if he acted alone or as part of a group.

Suliyono reportedly stormed into the service brandishing a meter-long sword and began striking people. The Rev. Karl-Edmund Prier, an 81-year-old German-born priest, was reportedly standing at the altar when he was seriously wounded.

The university student from East Java was reported to have seriously injured three other people and decapitated statues of Jesus and Mary before police arrived after 15 minutes, fired a warning shot and shot him in the leg. Some 100 people were estimated to have been attending the service.

All four wounded worshipers received hospital treatment, and a police officer was also reportedly injured in the attack. Witnesses reportedly said Suliyono first struck a parish member before charging toward the altar in the middle of the Mass.

The Jakarta Post quoted National Police spokesman Setyo Wasisto as saying that the assault fit a pattern of recent attacks by terrorists in other countries, and that Suliyono had been radicalized after joining several religious organizations, which he declined to name, while a student in Sulawesi.

Setyo told the Post that Suliyono had searched the Internet for a weapon and the nearest church and while staying in a Muslim prayer room in Yogyakarta. He said Suliyono had exchanged his mobile phone for the sword used in the attack.

Naming Suliyono a terrorist suspect, police on Tuesday (Feb. 13) charged him with persecution, sharp-weapon ownership and terrorism, according to the Post. He could face the death penalty under Indonesia’s 2003 Terrorism Law, legislation that is under revision in the House of Representatives.

After being hospitalized, Suliyono was taken to Jakarta for further questioning on Wednesday (Feb. 14). (source)

VICTORY: Pakistani Court Orders 12-Year-Old Christian Girl Kidnapped, Raped, And Forced To Convert To Islam And Marry Her Rapist To Return To Her Parents

VICTORY: Pakistani Court Orders 12-Year-Old Christian Girl Kidnapped, Raped, And Forced To Convert To Islam And Marry Her Rapist To Return To Her Parents

In a victory for Christians living in Pakistan, a 12-Year-Old Christian girl who was kidnapped by a Muslim man, raped, forcibly converted to Islam and married to him returned to her parents to the joy of the girl and her family according to a report:

Last week a landmark decision in a Lahore High Court hearing resulted in the emancipation of 12 year old Christian girl from her Muslim rapist despite her captor having an ‘official’ Islamic marriage certificate.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui accepted the petition made by the parents that the girl had been forcibly abducted and raped before being illegally married under duress to the Muslim man producing the document.

A reference was also made to the submitted National Identity Card (NIC) for the girl which illustrated that she was born on 15th December 2005. The details of the card were matched with records held by the National Databases and Registration Authority (NADRA) which confirmed that the child was below 13 years of age. Justice Siddiqqui then stipulated that as the child was under 14 years of age, she was below the legal consent for a marriage.

The evidence against the rapist became overwhelming when the terrified girl was brought to a witness stand during which she could be seen visibly weeping while she said that she had embraced Islam for the purposes of marriage and listed an Islamic name as her new name. However, during a cross examination the girl could not name any prophet but Isa (Islamic name for Jesus) and confirmed that she was illiterate. Her lack of knowledge of the Islamic faith and failure to name even one Islamic prophet barring Jesus who she said was her prophet failed to convince the court that she was a true convert

Under such compelling evidence Justice Siddiqui ordered police to investigate with great rigour the allegations made by the parents of the child. He wrote in his court order, “I am not convinced that the girl embraced Islam of her free will and in a secure environment; rather it appears to be the result of inducement and compulsion”.

“I am constrained to observe that this sort of act of abduction under the guise of Islam is totally uncalled for and unacceptable,” the judge wrote, adding that Muslims, Christians and all other citizens are equal when it comes to constitutional guarantees.

When the judge ruled that the girl return back home to her parents she rather unsurprisingly acceded to the wishes of the court without fuss and was visibly said to be overjoyed. (source)

Indian Woman Converts To Christianity And Then Dies Naturally, A Hindu Mob Steals Her Body, Dumps In Front Of Her Church, Then Sets Her Body And The Church On Fire And Tries To Throw The Pastor Into The Fire While Chanting “Hail Lord Ram”

A young Indian woman died of illness several months after she put her faith in Jesus. After death a furious Hindu mob stole her body and dumped in front of her church. When the pastor came out the mob set her body and the church on fire and then tried to throw the pastor into the fire while chanting to the Hindu god Ram “Hail Lord Ram”:

Pastor Jeewer Joeswa wasn’t sure what to think when a massive, chanting Hindu throng in northern India brought the corpse of a Christian woman to his church site – then set the building on fire.

Seema Devi, 23, had put her faith in Christ several months before, after the pastor had offered up healing prayer for her. Now, on Jan. 16, Pastor Joeswa was surrounded by a Hindu mob administering last rites and burning her body on church premises in Sehal Village, in Jammu and Kashmir state.

“A mob of men and women, at least 1,000 in number shouting, ‘Jai Sri Ram, Jai Sri Ram [Hail Lord Ram],’ brought Seema’s body to the church,” Pastor Joeswa told Morning Star News.

The mob alleged that Pastor Joeswa had prayed for Devi and so was responsible for her death, Chittaranjan Tandy, secretary of the Friends Missionary Prayer Band, Jammu Region, told Morning Star News. He said that her husband, Rinku Kumar, was kept in police custody for his own security after the mob tried to burn him alive alongside his deceased wife.

“The police from Nowshera police station tried to control the mob, but they put fire on the church building, vehicles of believers parked near the church, church equipment, furniture and every object in sight, including the food grains,” Tandy said.

In the violence at the village in Rajouri District, the mob alleged that Devi and her husband had been forcibly converted, he said.

“There was no forced conversion,” Tandy said. “The couple voluntarily attended the church and accepted Christ. In fact, they had experienced the healing and were strong in faith.”

Superintendent of Police Popsi Malik told Morning Star News that Devi and her husband had been attending church but were still practicing some Hindu rituals.

“They were in the rudimentary phase, thinking whether to continue as Hindu or Christian,” Malik said. “It was the assumption of the mob that the couple got converted by force. Before her death, the couple were attending their church in Punjab state. People have presumed that he was converted to Christianity forcefully. But that was not true.”

Malik said police brought the mob under control, though not before both Christians and Hindus were injured in the altercation.

Prayer and Witchcraft

Pastor Joeswa said his congregation had prayed for Devi long before she died on Jan. 15.

“It was months ago, when her mental health was degrading, the church prayed for her and she got healed completely,” he said. “She became an active believer who would never miss a prayer meeting, whether it be on Sunday or weekdays.”

When there was a need to pray for the sick, she would accompany the pastor, his wife and others to pay home visits, he said.

After attending the Christmas Day service, she had gone to her mother’s house, he said.

“After she went to her maternal house, we heard that they forced her to join them in idol worship,” Pastor Joeswa said. “Now I can recall Seema telling me often, ‘Pastor, I share the gospel with my parents. My mum shows little interest, but my papa never listens. Please pray for him. My family worships idols, I want them to know Jesus Christ.”’

Tandy said that during her previous illness, her husband refused to take her to a witchdoctor, known locally as a tantric. Her parents tied her hands and legs with ropes and took her to Pouni village, Reasi District, for treatment from the witchdoctor, he said.

“The driver of the auto rickshaw, a resident of Kangri village, stands as eyewitness to this,” Tandy told Morning Star News. “Our church members were moved hearing the news of Seema being taken to religious places and to a tantric for treatment; many of them tried to go to Pouni village to pray for her.”

Devi’s parents did not allow them in to pray for her, Pastor Joeswa said.

“The tantric had beaten her brutally,” the pastor said. “Ten days after realizing the witchdoctor’s treatment was not working, the parents gave up. They handed Seema to her husband Rinku. Finally, Rinku moved with his wife to Jalandhar [Punjab state] for treatment. She was already in the worst health condition.”

She and her husband had enjoyed fellowship with Pastor Joeswa’s church for nearly eight months, he said. They were visiting the church anew from Jalandhar when he last saw her on Christmas Day.

Quest for Justice

For four days after the Hindu mob descended on the church property, Christians in Sehal village stayed in relatives’ houses fearing for their lives, Tandy said.

“There was a threat to their lives also,” he told Morning Star News. “With the help of Christian advocacy groups, we joined together as 25 pastors from Jammu region and represented the matter before the chief minister of the state, Mehmooba Mufti. We are praying and hoping for funds to be released for the construction of the church.”

The total loss has been estimated as 2.5 million rupees (US$38,850), he said.

“As pastors in Jammu and Kashmir region, we go through many difficult situations, but God has always made a way,” Tandy said. “It is only by His grace that our people came out alive from the burning church building. We request for prayers. We are hoping our Lord will do a massive work, that He will shake Jammu and save the unbelieving.”

Kumar is safe but in hiding as his life is under threat, according to Police Superintendent Malik.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Nowshera Police Station against the assailants – who came from Kangri, Bhajwal, Sunderbani and Sehal villages – upon receiving a complaint from Pastor Joeswa.

“The police took into custody some eight assailants, but they were released on the same day,” Tandy told Morning Star News.

The cause of Devi’s death has not been revealed, as no one has yet received a post-mortem report, he said.

Area residents said that on Jan. 15 in Jalandhar, she woke up early and completed chores, then suddenly, at 7:30 a.m., she fainted and collapsed to the floor.

“Rinku and their neighbors in Jalandhar thought Seema might have slipped into coma, at first, but she passed away,” Pastor Joeswa said. “She was put through a lot.”

Tandy said local politicians are trying to politicize her death by announcing compensation of 200,000 rupees (US$3,108) to Girdhari Lal, Seema’s father, and a government job for Devi’s sister.

The assailants’ allegations were baseless, he said.

“We prayed as a church for Seema when she was sick, and we are still praying as a chain – hundreds of us have begun praying for the revival of the church, and for safety of Seema’s husband, Rinku, also,” he said.

The hostile tone of the National Democratic Alliance government, led by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), against non-Hindus, has emboldened Hindu extremists in several parts of the country to attack Christians since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took power in May 2014, religious rights advocates say. Hindu Saffron Terrorists Form A Mob And Tries To Attack Catholic Hospital With A Bulldozer And Rocks, Catholic Priests And Hospital Staff Form A Line And Stop The Mob, The Police Come And Charge The Priests With “Rioting” And “Criminal Intimidation”

Hindu terrorists formed a mob and attacked a Catholic hospital in India, throwing rocks at it and attempting to ram a bulldozer into it. Priests and hospital staff came and formed a human shield and  protected the hospital. After, police came and charged the priests with “rioting” and “criminal intimidation” for standing up to the terrorists:

Four Catholic priests have been charged with rioting and criminal intimidation in India’s Madhya Pradesh state over a land dispute involving a hard-line Hindu group.

The priests of Ujjain Diocese resisted an attempt by a Hindu group to take over a piece of land in front of a Catholic Church-run hospital in Ujjain, a city with a Hindu temple and a site for pilgrims.

“No one has been arrested yet,” an official of Madhav Nagar police station, where the case has been registered, told ucanews.com on Feb. 1.

The dispute revolves around a plot of land adjacent to Pushpa Mission Hospital, a 44-year-old facility with 200 beds. Hospital authorities say the local civic body gave the public land to the hospital for use as a parking area and to maintain its greenery.

However, some members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the pro-Hindu party that runs the state government, attempted to take over the land on Jan. 27, accusing the church of illegally occupying the site. However, the church obtained a “stay order” to maintain the status quo from the Madhya Pradesh state High Court.

Gagan Singh, who led the crowd and claimed to be the owner of the public land, is the assistant to the local BJP parliamentarian for the area.

Church officials say charges against them were framed under political influence.

Tension intensified after revenue officials arrived to measure and demarcate the land. A crowd also claimed a portion of the land.

Attempts were made to demolish the boundary wall despite resistance from church officials, diocesan public relations officer Father Antony Nirappel told ucanews.com.

As priests and hospital staff created a human shield to block a bulldozer and called police, the crowd began to throw stones at the hospital. Police arrived and dispersed the crowd.

“But soon we were informed that police have charged four of us with rioting and criminal intimidation of people,” said Father Nirappel, one of the accused.

He said it was “just another instance of harassment” in the state, where Christians regularly face violence and harassment at the hands of Hindu groups who want to make India a Hindu-alone nation.

The accused include hospital director Anthony Pulickamandapam, who said the hospital has ownership documents for “every inch of land we possess” and a receipt from the civic body for paying mandatory fees to use the land, he said.

The hospital has been using the land for at least four decades. “We do not know how an owner has suddenly come to claim public land,” said Father Nirappel, adding that they “only want a competent authority to certify its rightful owner.”

Police are guarding the area to maintain the status quo after Singh threatened to organize a Hindu religious ritual to assert his ownership over the land.

The case has been posted for a hearing on Feb. 5 in the High Court.

Father Nirappel said the case is part of a well-organized plan by Hindu groups to tarnish the image of Christians by portraying them as law breakers.

The state of 72 million people, where Christians form less than one percent, has a history of anti-Christian violence.

It witnessed 21 violent attacks on Christians and hundreds of cases of harassment, threats and intimidation by Hindu groups from January to November 2017, according to data published by voluntary group Alliance Defending Freedom. (source)
